The McLaren 540c is just sensational to drive. It’s mind blowing fast, but speed is such a tiny slice of its repertoire. It has spectacular mechanical traction for a rear wheel drive supercar and is lighter than any of its rivals. The McLaren’s handling and ride over roads is almost peerless, and the performance from the muscular twin-turbo V8 is scintillating.

Under the hood, the McLaren is powered by a 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine, available with a choice of three different power outputs. In total, pushing 532bhp, making a top speed of 199mph and 0-60 time of only 3.4 Seconds. The gearbox is the familiar seven speed twin clutch unit, driving the rear wheels through an open differential. The engine and gearbox can be switched from Normal mode into Sport or Track to improve response and cut shift times.
