2016 Jaguar F-Type SVR leaks early
Details of the upcoming Jaguar F-Type SVR have been leaked onto the internet, confirming it will produce 567bhp and be good for a quoted 200mph top speed.
The information, which has been published on Dutch website Autoblog, was revealed by a German dealer who appears to have published a brochure prematurely. It includes full technical specifications and pictures of the hot new model, which is expected to be officially unveiled in the coming months and go on sale later this year.
Although nothing has officially been confirmed by Jaguar at this stage, the brochure reveals that the F-Type SVR will use Jaguar’s supercharged 5.0-litre V8 and an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and sends drive to all four wheels.
Modifications have increased the power output from 542bhp (in the V8 R Coupé) to 567bhp while torque is also up from 502lb ft to 516lb ft. This helps to trim the 0-62mph time to just 3.7sec, 0.4sec faster than the AWD F-Type R, and raises top speed to 200mph, comfortably beating the R’s 186mph top speed.
The SVR also gains carbon ceramic brakes, which are 21kg lighter than the standard car’s items, a lightweight titanium exhaust that saves 12kg, and forged aluminium wheels that save 10kg.
Aerodynamic enhancements include a more prominent rear diffuser, a large front spoiler and a rear wing that is claimed to reduce lift by up to 80%. Larger intakes offer improved engine and brake cooling.
The brochure also reveals a convertible version of the SVR will be offered. Top speed for this car is a claimed 194mph.
Test mules of the F-Type SVR were spotted in August of last year, initially prompting rumours that the new model would be launched towards the end of 2015. Although pricing has yet to be revealed, a starting price of around £100,000 has been mooted.
