Ferrari 458 Speciale Vs Ferrari 488 Pista
Which do you prefer; Ferrari 458 Speciale Vs Ferrari 488 Pista? In this blog, our Sales Manager Geroge gives us his views on the current supercar market! They are two seriously stunning Special Edition Ferrari V8’s!
The Ferrari 458 Speciale has a 4.5 litre naturally aspirated engine pushing almost 600 brake horsepower whereas the modern-day version 3.9 litre twin turbo charged 488 Pista is pushing 710 brake horsepower.
Both cars are absolute monsters on the track and look amazing on the road. We’re lucky enough to have both in stock done very well with both cars in the past .
The biggest difference between the both of them is the fact that the 458 Speciale is naturally aspirated which means no turbos are involved and less throttle lag. The noise is a very big factor, which you do you get more of on the naturally aspirated engines .
You don’t hear turbos fizzing and whining along – it’s all about this natural roaring combustion, which comes from the engine itself.
The 458 Speciale is a really good investment, because it is the last naturally aspirated V8 engine Ferrari ever going to make. In the long term this is going to be a brilliant investment – definitely one for your collection if you’re thinking long term.
I do see these reaching over a million pounds in the long term. The Speciale has won the engine of the Year award and it’s one the best engine the V8 engine roars you’ll ever hear. So that in itself has to hold some sort of recognition with it.
The 488 Pista, on the other hand, is not lacking in terms of the theatre with the presence and it’s not lacking in terms of the drive – the handling is probably better than the 458 Speciale!
With the Pista being twin-turbocharged, it’s incredibly quick – no other real way of saying that. Nowadays, the Pista is selling at around the £320,000 to £330,000 mark. I do think it is a brilliant buy for that sort of money as it’s not so much over list price.
You’d be spending roughly twenty to thirty grand over list but it’s worth every penny. I don’t see these falling or crashing value anytime soon, so you are safe.
If it was my money, to be completely honest with you, I love the Pistas, but I just love the fact that you can say you’ve got the last naturally aspirated v8 that Ferrari have ever made.
The 458 Speciale, in my experience, is probably one of the best cars I’ve driven so far. You’d need a budget of £260,000 to £270,000 to get a very nice example and you know where to buy it from!
