Audi R8 Prototype Spied Testing

An insane looking Audi R8 prototype has been spied under heavy camouflage near one of the German facilities of the marque. Details about this test mule remain extremely scarce, but it appears to be based around the current-generation R8 rather than the upcoming second-gen car set to arrive next year.

As a result, it seems entirely possible that this is a prototype for a special edition R8 set to send-off the first-generation car in style. It can be differentiated from the current model thanks to a revised front splitter and bumper, a different bonnet, more aggressive side skirts and at the rear, a towering rear wing significantly bigger than the R8 GT’s, circular tailpipes and a different rear diffuser.

Expect to hear more about this prototype in coming weeks and months.
